Cross country tour... bus needs veg!

Postby janejanepollock » Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:49 pm

Our band is traveling from California back to our home in Florida and we are trying to set up a veg oil route for our tour. We have a short school bus that has a built-in collection/cleaning system, so we can suck and go. We centrifuge while we are on the highway and then transfer to our clean tank.

Anyone have any suggestions for restaurants, collection companies, or private stock pilers that could help us on our journey?
These are the cities, in order, through which we will be passing:

Start in Northern California, travel down I-5.....
Phoenix, AZ
El Paso, TX
Austin, TX
Dallas, TX
New Orleans, LA
Mobile, AL
Athens, GA
Orlando, FL
Miami, FL
Tampa, FL
Gainesville, FL
Cocoa, FL
Tallahassee, FL
Atlanta, GA
Asheville, NC
Nashville, TN
Knoxville, TN
Lexington, KY
Greenville, SC
Greenville, NC
Raleigh, NC
Charlottesville, VA
New Haven, CT
New York, NY (and Brooklyn)
Annapolis, MD
Wilmington, NC

.....after Wilmington, it's back to Florida for us. Our tour starts this week (beginning of May, 2012) and will finish mid June. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Getting tough to find willing restaurants. Most recent one I found was a little deli in Houston, then a small restaurant in seadrift, TX. Very small hauls and not worth going out of your way.

veg oil is like a commodity. Sometimes the value is higher so renderers "buy" it from restaurants, and are more stringent about contracts... Sometimes it is lower and the renderers charge restaurants to pick it up cause they cant sell enough of it and have amounts left over that they have to pay to legally dump. It has held is value higher for a good while now so it is much harder to find for free
