1994-98 Cummins 5.9 Diesel 2 tanks near NC

Postby MikeGoodman59 » Thu May 31, 2012 9:09 pm

I bought a heck of a truck (IP solenoid failure aside). Does anyone have a conversion from Delaware to lower GA to western Tennessee I could see? I'm thinking of going with a Plantdirve system but am not sure. I like the Trekker tanks from GoldenFuelSystems, but may just piece it together. Does a cap make a diference in tanks, what with filling? What valves and what filters? I know SunWizard likes the manual valves. I've liked POLLACK 6-port motorized. HOH or TIH? I've used both. Definitely a 26 FHPE, a VegTherm Mega and an Arctic Fox TIT heater under the hood. I know that GFS has a "4B" hose with inserted return line and 3x-12 ga. wires for pump, heater, sending units. Frybrid makes good stuff. I particularly need to where and how to loop the return. Do you cut hard return lines? Who uses a return. I know in my 1983 MB and rabbit I don't but those are brain-dead conversions. This will take somethinking. Any thoughts, pics, or invites appreciated.

Mine is looped to just before the valves in the floor as shown in my diagrams.
Do you cut hard return lines?

Yes.
Who uses a return.

Mine is full return on diesel, looped on WVO.

For my mercedes 300TD, I used the same setup as the dodge since its a similar inline IP and strong mechanical lift pump. Doing it right isn't brain-dead on either one.

My 1998 is different from SunWizard's 1995. There's no room between the driver's side battery and the fuse box. Anyone got pics of a 1998, where they put the FPHE and the filter. Also, still want to see a conversion if anyone can offer. Trying to add a picture, but won't upload. Pic is 146 KB.

Last pic uploaded. This is where I think the FPHE and Filter must go. The FPHE could fit on the driver's side, I suppose.

where did you end up putting the FPHE and filter? I'm doing a conversion on my 98 in the next month and it would be great to see what you came up with. One thought I have is to move a battery to make room. Sure would be nice to keep all the fuel on the pump side of the engine however, instead of running it to the hot exhaust/turbo side...
