Foam Baffles Okay?

Postby markcochran » Sun Jan 20, 2013 2:22 pm

Hi everybody,

I've been slowly piecing together my first two tank conversion, and got the secondary tank today. It's a black plastic 25 gallon auxiliary tank from Craigslist. My question is about the baffle that's built into it. It doesn't have the "walls with holes" type of baffle that I was expecting, but this black foam stuff that's built into the bottom. It's like the lower half of the tank is a big sponge. Is that type of baffle okay for use with WVO?

Hi Markcochran,

if in doubt don't use it!
Can you look up the people who made it and find out what it's made of? Take a sample of the foam and put it into a jar with some of your wvo and watch what happens, this may help you decide if it's safe to use?

better to be safe than stuff your ip,

God bless, froggo.
