94 to 98.5 lift pump life

I've read Sunwizard's 95 conversion and see that you used the stock lift pump for both d2 and WVO.
I have purchased a 95 and am planning my conversion and am wondering how long and for how many miles the stock lift pump will perform?

Would I need to keep a spare in the truck?

I read that yours has been converted for 6 years and I like the conversion method. I've ran a 2001 dodge with grease for almost 50K and have had issues with electric lift pumps, three way solenoid valves, bad heat exchanger in tank  Arrgh.
We hope to do better with this 95.
By the way, I still have the 01 dodge and am still running grease and I also have 83 300SD with a two tank.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum. Its always good to hear from more people with experience to share.

The stock lift pump on those is very strong and lasts probably 100k, but I have heard once the stock one is replaced there is a large variation in quality in the aftermarket. I replaced mine at 170k but it didn't look like a stock one that was there. The NAPA one I got is well made, better than any other lift pump I have seen.

I don't carry one since they fail over many months, and are stocked nationwide at most auto parts stores.

Thanks for your prompt response!
The truck I purchased has had the lift pump replaced about 20k
Miles back. Which would put the millage @190k.

What is apparent when they start to fail? Pressure drop
even after filter change?

The truck also has a small fuel leak i'm trying to find.
Fuel drips off at the year main about every 10 sec.
Any suggestions?

Correct.

I haven't heard of anyone with that. Follow the drip up to where it starts, maybe the fuel filter or lines around there.
