Is this possible ?

Gardner diesel 6LXB engine in a double decker bus fully mechanical fuel system.

Is it possible to essentially replace the main fuel tank with a small approx 1litre container. This container would take the flow and return as the fuel tank does now leaving no alterations to be made to the original fueling system. This small tank would contain a 24v 600w heater for when on veg. The container would be fed veg oil from the main tank via an electric pump, and diesel via gravity. Selected via an electric change over valve.

Thoughts please.

Yes its possible, but its basically the same as a looped return, with the same drawbacks such as long purge times and air never gets to escape. You can simplify and improve by eliminating the 1 litre tank, the fuel lines and filter are about 1 liter.
