Mine doesn't smell like VO after a purge. I would check your purge by putting a clear line or filter someplace on the return and watch for the color change.

well i should say that it isnt the diesel smell, it stinks. Does yours smell like diesel or does it have a diff. smell ? Now i dont think people can switch over and get out and smell the exhaust and tell the difference at once, because i know my truck smells different for a while.

It doesn't have much smell anytime since it burns clean, but after purge it smells clearly like diesel. I switch to purge while driving, so I can't get out and smell it right away.

hey sun, mine has a certain smell and always does. I believe my vo is clean enough since i run it through my cf. My oil is from my families 2 rest. & bar and they put it in a drum inside through a 100 mic. drum strainer. Then i run the cf til i get 1/16 or less in rotor in an hour to hour and a half. Then through a waterblok filter and a 2 micron filter to truck or store tank. My cf is about the same setup as yours. The truck just smells a bit funny, even after i purge while driving. Im gonna try putting a clear hose on so i can see the switch over. Im also thinking @ using 2 three ports instead of my 6 port. I am just wondering y it smells like it does.

Is VO returning to the D2 tank on purge? If so you may have VO building up in there if you purge for too long.

Well my vo returns to a loop just before my vo pump and my D2 ruturns to my D2 tank. The only vo that gets returned to my D2 tank is vo in the 6" of fuel line just before my ip and any in the ip and injectors, that little amount i didnt think would matter because of the large amount of D2 i still burn due to the amount of short trips i make not on vo. When im hauling my trailer and working (hotshot) I burn anywhere from 30-100 gal of vo a day. Like i said my truck seems to run fine it just smells funny.

Would think that short duration you could use a good Red ATF for this. drive to normal temps with the plans to pull an intake line real quick and dip it into a can of ATF blend of fuel and restart. Then while at idle purge and watch for how long it takes to hit the viewable filter. or run a temporary line into the cab and do it on the road.
