Diesel Secret Energy (DSE)

Postby SunWizard » Wed Mar 05, 2008 12:29 pm

If you do a web forums search for "diesel secret" you will get countless posts of mostly negative info about it:

Its a filtering and blending system where they get extra money out of you for each batch to buy their secret formula. Read this section of these forums and then you don't need to buy their "secret", far better info is available here for free.

DSE's secret

Postby John Galt » Wed Mar 05, 2008 3:44 pm

There is no magic solution of chemicals and solvents that will convert dirty wet "WVO" into fuel that's safe to use in a diesel engine.

Dewatering and filtering are the two most important steps
in using recycled cooking oil for fuel.

Look in the Collecting/Filtering/Dewatering section of this forum for more information.

Once you have clear, clean dry oil then you can experiment with various solvents and additives to find the mix that's best for your specific vehicle in your specific climate.

John, I listened to a lengthly clip from DSE's website that was a radio talk host from northern ontario (whether that means Sudbury or Thunder Bay/Dryden, I have no clue, I've lived in both places) interviewing a guy who advocated DSE and had been using it in cold winters for several years. Ever since I first seen your posts on infopop, I've wondered if that was you.

On an unrelated note, I'm a little perturbed by their marketing techniques if not their technology. They have a couple videos that were made to be like fan vids with obviously faked success stories. When I posted a text comment saying something to the effect of "I'm a real client and I've got my setup plumbed and I'm going to use my first batch tomorrow!", it was deleted. After posting some other questions as to why the only non-deleted comments to the video seemed to be from fake (i.e. 5 accounts all created the same day as the account which posted the vid) accounts, and which all seemed to be rather incredulous stories (i.e. "It's so easy! I make 200 gallons a week for my 2004 Jetta, and the whole operation fits in my closet!"), all my text comments were deleted.

Then I posted a video which showed my DSE setup and the damage that it had done to my truck, and the cavitation in a lift pump. I also read 2 very misinformative sentences out of their book by way of example. Then I posted several videos demonstrating a pan test (as you guys had described it on infopop) and explaining some of the major pitfalls with running an engine on veg oil. All were deleted and I was sent and email saying I had violated a company's copyright or some such nonsense.

I've decided to not bother because one of these days I want to post up my videos of my covers of Stan Rogers and Bob Dylan songs, and I want to have an operational youtube account. But I'm still pretty pissed off about the whole thing.

It's quite unfortunate that DSE has given blending fuels a bad name. Their tactics don't surprise me. I've seen similar "don't confuse us with facts, our minds are made up" on forums primarily devoted to the Gospel of the Two Tank Conversion. DSE has that same evangelistic zeal, and when I see it my BS alarm automatically starts 'flashing'.

I avoid any media exposure after bad experiences in the past.
