Compressed Air?

Postby 123eddie » Tue Jun 17, 2008 8:53 am

Has anyone tried to use either the compressed air barrel pumps sold on e-bay or there own version to move wvo through filters. I have a large air compressor and would like to incorporate into my system.

I have used them for transfer pumps but they are too much capacity for filtering in most cases. Too high of capacity can rupture the filter media.

With upflow settling, I sometimes even restrict the gravity flow thru the element when the filter is new.

Thanks Ron,

I may try one of the compressed air pumps. They sell for about $50 and seem like a good way to pump oil. If the compressed air was restricted to say 5 lbs. would it be possible to add a 10 micron filter to the air pump as a polishing filter right before the car's tank.

That should probably work but you may need to tweek the pressure depending on the pump.
