Cream Separator as Centrifuge

Postby 123eddie » Sat Aug 23, 2008 8:59 am

I have been offered a cream separator that has an electric motor for free. Does any one have experience with these. There are some postings on the web I found through a google search that claim success.

Interesting idea! A cream separator is a centrifuge that does a very good job of separating cream from milk. you may have to experiment with pulley sizes to change the speed of the centrifuge to get the results you want?
I know from years of selling cream, the separator has to be thoroughly cleaned after every use. If you try it, please let us know how it turns out.

I haven't had the time to go look at the cream separator but on one of the other sites I posted the same question and the general consensus was that it wouldn't work. I think I holding out for a Simple Centrifuge. From your post it sounds like they are alot of work to clean.
