The super absorbant polymers in diapers will absorb water and not oil. They make for great pre-filtration. Easy experiment:, pour some dry VO in one diaper, then some wet VO in another diaper, finally pour some water on a third diaper. You can easily see the the polymers expand. they are also reuseable if you let them dry out enough.

How much oil can a diaper "filter"?
1984 Volvo 240 diesel with a single tank Elsbett conversion: electric fuel filter heater, FPHE, glow plugs, and injectors. Also injector line heaters and block heater, running 20%kero/80%WVO winter blend.

Not sure exactly, When the diaper looks full, you should change it. It all depends (no pun intended) on how much water is in your oil.

Why not just sink a diaper into a settling container?
I think this is worth a try. Thanks.
91 Toyota Hiace 3L engine w/ a 300W ½” heated fuel line, lift pump, additional 10um fuel filter, and a 2nd diesel tank for starting.
