new cf set up questions

Postby flysurge » Sat Sep 27, 2008 12:16 pm

So finally put in some time this week and built a new collection rig using a 3/4" gear pump and a 12 volt winch motor....truly awesome. Picked up 200 gallons in less than 15 minutes. I'd post pics , but dont know how.

Also got around to setting up the centrifuge (model 60 from dave at industrial diesel)...Question is what pressures are you guys running with hot (140 plus) oil. If I run 60 lbs all seems good...running much higher the thing sounds like a sick surging loud helicopter. Is 60 ok....seems to be spun up. Cant imagine diesel engines using much higher pressures. Any help appreciated. I seem to recall someone saying they had this problem and cured it by making new bushings.

If anyone could teach me how to post pics I'd be grateful.

Rick

Here is a link some posts on the bushings -

I thought that people were getting part of bad batch that had sloppy bushings . Are they all this way ?

Know any machinists ?

90 psi will remove particles and water much quicker. Loudness is a sign of bad bushings or a rotor that isn't balanced. This is one advantage of the dieselcraft, they are dynamically balanced.

Nice collection trailer!

Part of your loudness could be coming from your mounting to your barrel, which acts as an amplifier. Rubber bushings may help.

agreed. Next move is to isolate the cf, after new bushings.
