Testing % of Water, please verify

I need confirmation that I am correct in my assumption in calculating water % in wvo sample.

I take about 250g of oil out of a 250F stirred mixture, then heat it with a mep gas tourch until the oil gets that burnt smell, then reweigh it.

if my sample then weights 249g am I correct in assuming that the % water is less than 1%? like 0.04%?

Just to confirm I added 20g of water, then did the same test and the weight came back as 249g.

Since oil will hold dissolved water, especially at higher temperatures, all you can assume is it has about 0.4% LESS water than it did before.
