Do I have an air leak in my Mercedes?

Postby hheynow » Sat Jan 03, 2009 10:34 am

It seems that after a long hard drive whether on WVO or #2 when I come to a stop sign the engine feels like it's starved for fuel. When on D2 I can turn on my aux boost pump momentarily and all is then fine. When on WVO and this happens I switch my hyrda force valve switch to purge then turn on the boost pump and of course it cures it. Then when I start driving again I switch back to WVO without a problem. While driving on each fuel there is plenty of power. So could I have a small air leak? The car's idle in park is perfect with zero air in clear IP return hose. Both fuel filters are new.

I'd say it's time to install your gauge :D
You got the gauge anyway.
That would show you immediately what's going on.

Yeah, I've been procrastinating. The vacuum gauge is mounted but the tube isn't installed. Still up in the air if I should use that gauge on the truck (since it's on vacuum only) and get the boost gauge you told me to get months ago for the Mercedes. I don't like the idea of pressure on a vacuum gauge since when on #2 I use the aux boost pump and want the gauge to monitor both filters when in use. I always could get another aux boost pump for WVO, but think that my fix is locating and stopping a slow leak.

Spoke to ISSPRO tech support. They said to not use the vacuum only gauge if I install an aux boost pump so I ordered their R5870 (30HG/0-25PSI).
