Unfortunately, I don't think this would work on my Merc with it's vacuum ignition/ Shutoff.
May certainly be helpful to a lot of other people though with more modern systems.

I switched the 300d (123) to electric locks, and use a remote start (use a vacuum solenoid on the vacuum shut off) . Start function works great down to about 25 degrees without plugging the car in.
