2 tanking an old fintail MB

Postby knoxbiobenz » Wed May 06, 2009 10:01 am

Has anyone ever ran a MB from the 60's on veggie oil here.
I am sure that it can be done I just wonder about the amount of power it would have.

Any ideas/suggestions would help..Thanks

Within 4 % of diesel. Actually with a two tank system and WVO with a lot of fat (but properly de-watered) it could have more power than on diesel.

if you are a detail person, who will:

. truely take time to properly convert dirty oil to clean waterless oil
. Will mount the system taking into consideration preserving the classic nature of the fin tail MB
. Will properly maintain that fin tail's engine and fuel system- increasing oil change intervals, valve adjustments etc over OEM recomendations

then... go for it.

If your not a detail person and don't as much care if you that ol classic reaches its final demise a lot faster... then no... dont do it. Sell that fin MB to someone who will restore it.

IMHO of course.

If you're looking for more power, a poster at infopop wrote a nice thread on water/methanol injection in his 80's M-B. Got a big power improvement for very little cost.
