Racor 1000FH 12V Heater Modification Anybody???

Postby SoulFire » Thu Jul 23, 2009 2:58 pm

We've just recieved our Racor 1000FH Heated Filter/Water Seperator. The heater has two thermal switches to turn the heater off after 85 degrees...I've heard of people modifying the heater so it can get hotter without turning off. Anyone have any advice on how to do this?

Hi SoulFire,

I don't know much about the Racor 1000FH Heated Filter/Water Seperator, but thermal snap switches come with pre-set temp settings.

I brought some here in oz set to turn off at 100 deg C then back on when the temp drops to 75 deg C.

They cost about $AU3.00 each when I brought them.

If they are the same thing you can get them from electronics suppliers.

God bless froggo.

Hello SoulFire,
I have a Racor 1000FH and 900FH filter. There is a heat disc in those with two heating wires. There are two thermostats connected to the disc. I just removed those two thermostat and installed two of those:

Since the heat disc takes lots of current, up to 25 amp I found these great.

I dipped them in Steel epoxy. I bought those in Norway where I live.
