T fittings, and best fuel hose?

Postby torkq » Sun Mar 09, 2008 12:17 am

I need to find some good T fittings (coolant tee's) for my conversion attempt, but also need to know whats a good brand for fuel hose, I want to replace all the fuel related hoses, since I might even run some biodiesel, any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

www.mcmaster.com has some good brass barbed tees that I used in my truck. What year and make of vehicle? The fuel hoses may be OK for B100 already. I used Gates XL 50psi fuel lines in mine for the VO side and have run some B100 through there too.

The best fuel line is probably the stuff with braided stainless outer jacket, but its pricey.

1980 Mercedes 300SD.

I doubt any of the hoses have been changed during its 28 year life span

If you could help me out, and tell me what exact brass T fittings I'd need from McMaster Carr, also, could plastic/PVC work, McMaster states that it'll hold up to 200+ degrees, depending which one you purchase, thanks again

Something like this perhaps?

McMaster item #: 53055K177

I can suggest Goodyear J30R9 fuel injection hose. It's priced reasonably at Auto Zone @ $4/ft. It's rated for 302*F and is bioD compatible. Another option is Dayco Gen 2 fuel injection hose but it's a bit more per foot.

I used 91355K53, brass is much better than plastic, stronger and longer life. They also have all the other fittings you might need in brass.

You might want to check out McMaster's nylon tubing. Nylon 6/6 has a temperature range of -99F to +300F and can handle diesel, veg and biod. I use it in low pressure hydraulics all the time, and it can get hot enough to boil water that you drip on the surface of the tubing.

I just bought some at AutoZ, Advance also has some but a little more in cost.
