how do I tell if it's hydrogenated or canola oil?

Postby elliot » Sun Mar 14, 2010 12:36 am

My regular supply ( good clean canola oil from a Thai restaurant) may have
been mis-labeled.
The regular cook was not around and the oil I picked up looks a little
darker than the usual clear amber colored oil.
I noticed an empty cubie labeled Liquid Frying Shortening- and I'm not
sure what I picked up.
Is there any way to tell?

Chill it to about 35°F and the hydrogenated oil will solidify.
