CRD and Blends

Postby dadsdiesel » Thu Mar 13, 2008 12:38 pm

So,

I was sick of brewing bio-d and when it got really cold out not going higher than B50 in my Libby.

So, I tried a blend. 3/4 tank of D2, to which I added 6-7 gallons of clean, dry wvo (PHO I think, it gelled in the 30's) which contained in that 6-7 gallons a quart or so rug.

I live on a dirt road so I figured mixing by "bumps" would be enough. It seemed to run OK. No smoke except upon hard acceleration. (Normal after the wife babies it) When the wife drove the Libby she would just fill the tank with D2 from our reliable source. I had to wait to pour in my mix.

I must admit, I have only had the chance to do it a few times all winter.

Thoughts on issues I may run into with the CRD??? Starting hasn't been an issue.

What does a sample of the mix in the tank look like on a cold morning?

Ahhhh... I just read Sun's other post about taking samples of differing %'s. I will have to collect a few jars and try the experimant.
