SWEET, I hope one is for the VegMax
what about FPHE? _________________ Jake

as I haven't shipped yet,
Let's get that one in the shipment too!

"hold on tight" PM;
Hi Jeff,
I'm interested. I have an F-250. I'll need to measure the lines so you can get started. I'm interested in insulating hoses, the steel fuel lines, and mostly my solenoid valves. The valves have an aluminum body which acts as a big heat sink where I need to keep the oil as hot as possible. I'm interested in insulating all the high heat-loss areas. Where the coolant hoses pass through the bed of the truck is a tight turn and a tight body pass through hole. My truck is a long bed with a crew cab, so I may need quite a few feet to fit over the heater hose... I have an accurate IR thermometer and an equally accurate temp sender. I can take some pics so you can see what I want to insulate. I'm an engineer so getting good accurate data is something I think you'll like to get from me. I should have pics and measurements by next weekend.
Thanks, _________________ '87F-250 stock, minus that pesky water seporator/air inlet, bone stock for now.

Below is a pic of a prototype for the 16 plate that plantdrive sells, I need the size of the protrusions and how far they are from the edges.
One idea from jake(I think) is to invert the box so that the flat flap(which is on the top) is on the bottem and the hoses go through holes in the box shaped bottom(see image posted below).
Though this needs to be installed by removing hoses, what a drag!
Wanting more input,
LCjeff

LC Jeff,
Sorry I took so long. I have my hose measurements for my F-250 Crew Cab. My hose sizes consist of the following perimeter measurements:
HIH or TIH between front and rear of the truck:
4 3/4 in + 15%(add a little extra for ease of installation) = 5.5 in perimiter X 34 ft long
HOH transition (under truck) leading to FPHE and running between tank and Fuel Filter: (8 in +15%) x (5 ft + 5 ft) = 9.2 in perimeter x 10 ft long
Fuel Hose interconnecting the HIH to FPHE to Hydroforce Valve:
(3.5 in + 15%) x 2.5ft = 4.0 in perimeter x 2.5ft
Between the 2 fuel rails and the fuel selector valve, I have steel break line:
1 in. perimeter x 6 ft
Once fuel rail is fed by steel line that I wouldn't insulate because it is simply too close to the turbo up-pipe. I didn't account for that length.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks! _________________ Late 99 Ford F-250, Designed and installed at home, 9 kMi on VO. |

Tube or wrap?
How thick can the long one be, weren't you concerned about clearence
through firewall/behind cab?
1/4" is what I made the last one out of.
FPHE cover? this seems to me to be the most important portion.
The 34' HOH/TIH, all one piece, if your already going co cut it, let me, so I can make it a little easier on my crew and we can finish the ends.
sounds like a win-win to me.
When the engine is at temp. do the hydraforce valves get hot to the touch?
Too darn many questions?

LC Jeff,
I need to be able to wrap it in my existing install. I have rubber coated clamps (the air force calls them "Adel clamps") every 2 ft or so of HIH. I could cut a slit along the length to wrap it if need be. I was planning to use electrical tape to distribute the load and hold it together over the tape with a plastic zip-tie every 6 in or so. I don't know if that is a good approach or not...
What way would you recommend installing it?

So how about a wrap job like a bandage.
2.5" strips? wrap around and around?
My first estimate is 3' of strip should cover 1' of your HOH
If your clamped every 2', you could do that section with 6' of wrap
IMHO Wrapping will hold the HOH together better than a tube.
Understand that I get flat stock, I'd hate to take time making a 34' tube
just so you can cut it, and make it flat again. agreed?

I'll install this weekend and get some pics/numbers for you
Thanks again, this is a real quality piece! _________________ Jake

That's a tube, not a wrap to be clear.
I was wondering about the installation, diffacult?
I'm on the edge of my seat, will it work as well as I think it will?
Waiting..... no rush.......
Hay! how about the FPHE............
OBTW can you view the image above?

Now that is different and interesting.
I was under the impression of a wrap which I would not like so much.
I am doing a BMW conversion right now and may be your first customer.
So I guess my question goes to Jeff.
How easy was the installation and what did you gain in temperature ?

First paying customer?, hardly. I've been making suits and stuff for 20+ years, But I have never used our materials for this purpose. That's why I am asking for testers.

Good question! that's why this thread is named "testers wanted"
I do not have info yet, but I will share results here.
Do you want to be an official tester?
